Pet Pride

Last weekend I helped my dad person clean up the yard for fall. If you missed it you can check it out here.

Well some of the landscaping was just done WRONG! Several of my nicely tended holes that I have worked on all spring and summer were filled in! I brought my tennis ball with me to help fix things here.

This needs to be just right.

Dirt way flying at lightning speed!

Hmm, this looks like a fine spot for a new hole!

This one is under the shed. Chipmunks live here & I know that one day I will dig deep enough to get them!

Notice how my people put bricks where I like to dig to try and deter me? Nothing stops an Oskar from doing his yardwork!

Feeling quite proud of myself, my tennis ball & I decide to relax for a minute.

Now I’m back in my corner, surveying the property. Doesn’t it looks great with all that dirt under me instead of just grass?

Everyone can do grass in their yard, but my people have me to highlight their landscape with beautiful holes. They often get so exicted they shout at me while I’m fixing things for them.

I’m very proud of my work, so I decided I would showcase if for you in this weeks Pet Pride. Click for more Pet Pride.

  1. Wow – I think I need to come and get lessons from you on digging! My human says I'm the laziest dog on the planet and can't dig to save my life! πŸ™‚

  2. lol! beautiful holes you've created there oskar! if you happen to come across any… you know… bones and such, please send them my way. πŸ™‚

  3. oh! duh! you're a dog! i'm sure you'd probably want to keep the bones for yourself! hahhaa! ok, then, just send any skulls you happen upon. deal?

  4. Hi Oskar – thanks for your lovely comment! Actually, I did do a post all about my Rachael Hale photoshoot but it was back in Feb and I think I hadn't met you then yet! It is here, if you'd like to see it – http://bighoneydog.com/2nd-photoshoot-rachaelhale/
you can get a "behind-the-scenes" look at one of Rachael's shoots and see how she got those amazing shots! All the dogs in that photo were actually my friends – Rachael contacted me to model for another photo and then asked if I had any friendly, well-trained friends for a group shot – so it was great to have all my friends immortalised with me!

And YES! That is Ombre standing next to me – he is actually a Standard Schnauzer but he is on the small side and he is my BEST FRIEND ever and my boyfriend – we have known each other since puppies but sadly, he moved to Toronto with his humans back in May. I really miss him coz he was the only doggie who could really take me on and play rough! πŸ™‚ He totally dominated me, even though he was only about 1/4 my size – hee! hee! I did a post about him and our friendship if you'd like to see it: http://bighoneydog.com/goodbye-ombre/ – so you see, I have a very special space for Shnauzers in my heart!! πŸ™‚

  5. You've done a great job there, Oskar. I don't get to dig outside so most of the times I'll be digging on the sofa and on the humans' beds.

  6. What was he thinking putting dirt in your hole? Sheesh! Now you must be exhausted from setting everything right again.

  7. Yea..what is it with the bricks Oskar? We have wooden planks down sideways in the dirt by the fence..I mean the fence has wooden planks isn't that enough?? mmm? They have weird landscaping ways…mine and yours just look so much better..like we WORKED at it!

    Good job o' buddy..

    Paws UP!
    GUS

  8. Oscar, you are so good at things like that! We don't have a yard, so I have to practice my digging in the park, or at Bertie and Oliver's house.

And it's so nice to see how your humans appreciate your work – sometimes humans have strange tastes, but yours obviously recognise your artistry!

    Puppy kisses

  9. Good work, Oskar! What is with these hoomans – they just don't appreciate dirt "art"!

  13. What is it about humans filling in the holes? We make 'em and get 'em just right and then the next thing we know they are gone and we have to start all over again☺

  14. Good job Oskar, wow you could teach a class on hole digging. I am glad that your family supports you when you do it. I tend to get shooed away when I am trying to landscape. Sheeeeeeesh. I hope your woozle is feeling better.

licks and sniffs and loveys Sasha

  16. Hi Oskar – we're blown away by your eye for an artistic hole, that yard of yours would be so flat and lifeless without you. Our humans put down things like netting and planks of wood to try to deter us, and they've even had – gasp! – stepping stones scattered across our lawn in an attempt to cover up our finest digging achievements. The NERVE of the humans! Did we ever mention that schnauzers are supposed to be a breed that DON'T dig? Hmmm, we beg to differ – he he! Schnauzer snuggles – JD and Max. (PS – our human wanted to say she won't get a chance to do the 'thankful Thursday' post that she had planned this week as she has to go to London tommorrow for work, she'll do it next week as she's keen to show off that lovely award your mom person gave her!)
