Driving With Pets

Photobucket
After a post from Pat over at Critter Alley about a doggie riding in the back of the pick-up truck unsafely made me think about doggie safety while driving.
The Pet Travel Center.com is a great resource for pet owners looking to travel with your critters.
(My mom person wants me to say that we just found this site on our own, we’re not advertising anything, whatever!)
An air bag could easily kill a pet so please make sure your furiend is safe when you travel or even run errands!

  1. Oh, yes, we are very safe in our car – we wear harnesses for walking, and we have little straps which clip from our harnesses into the seatbelt thingies.

But our human has to keep an eye on them – Rupey's a bit of a disaster area, and it turns out he's been chewing on his. And also sometimes he stands on the seatbelt thingy release bit, and accidentally releases himself…

  2. I have my own seat belt! It is a lead which clips into a space seat belt holder. Very safe, although it stops me from hanging out the window, which I find annoying…

  3. Hi Oskar!

  4. I ride in the back of the mastiff mobile and lay down so that I will be safe. Of course there really isn't a crate big enough for my Mango-ness, but we do the best we can.

  5. Such a smart post – safety is always something you need to remember, lucky for me… I'm on the floor board inside the car! (well… I would really rather be ON the seat… but guide dog puppies can't do that 🙁

  6. This was just a GREAT PSA, Oskar! We're getting ready to go on a trip next week and we'll make sure that we're super safe!

  7. I used to ride shotgun but not any more. Mitch and I ride in the backseat always!

    Love ya lots,

  8. A good place for dogs that don't have special gear is on the car floor in a sturdy carry on. Having a little dog in the back of a pick up truck is too dangerous for words.
