El Gato’s Surgery

Finally, my mom person surgified El Gato.  You can read what happened here if you don’t know the story.

The injury site.

Nubbin surgery has begun.

The open wound.  If you’re sensitive, you might want to avert your eyes.

Surgery prep, the tools need to be carefully laid out & accounted for.

Offering comfort.

The procedure.

Eh, that does look painful.

Finished.

El Gato is always in such good spirits.

Tending to the patient.

What do you mean??  No I am most certainly not chewing on his surgery site.  It’s, uh, physical therapy!

  1. Hey, Oskar, your mom did great surgery on El Gato. We bet she could have stitched up Martha's Stewarts split lip (from her dog) with no problem.

  6. I am SO glad that El Gato came through surgery okay! Tee hee! That physical therapy might need to be toned down a little while he's coming out of anesthesia!

  13. We send good wishes to El Gato for his swift recovery. That was a very delicate operation!! We are glad your mom had the necessary tools! Lots of love, Holly and mom

  14. Hmmm…based on the last photo I am thinking this could become a series ..the Gato without a tail, the Gato goes through second surgery….the Gato loses tail again..the Gato learns to live as a manx!

  15. Oh Oskar. That must have been so stressful for you. So glad the surgery was successful.

El Gato does look much better with a nubbin.

  16. Hi Oskar,
Wow, that was quite a surgery for your little friend. My mom and I noticed that your mom uses thread to stitch up the open wound. When my stuffies get open wounds, which is quite often, she will dental floss, apprently us dogs have a much harder time ripping it back open again, not that we want to inflict more pain on our stuffies, but hey, a dog's gotta chew right?

Glad to hear his nubbin surgery went well!

    Woof!

  17. Sweet Oscar, your mommy is such a good doctor to fix all the boo boo's on El Gata.
I have a feeling you will be the best nurse and El Gato will be running and jumping and playing with you soon.
I will send my magic bubbles to help El Gato heal fast

  18. Your momma must be quite the surgeon! We happen to have an opening (er, well lots of openings, that's the problem actually) around here for a good surgeon. Tell her to send in an application….

  19. Thank you for stopping by my blog and for leaving me a comment. I think you should jump on the bandwagon with writing 52 letters this year….don't be afraid that you will "poop out"! We will all encourage one another and hold each other accountable!

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you'll visit again soon!

  20. oskar,

  21. Hi Oskar – hey, El Gato is one tough little dude! Good on you to care so much about his recovery that you're carrying out physical therapy on him – you are SUCH a selfless pup! Well done too to the in-house surgeon! Schnauzer snuggles – JD and Max.

  22. Listen here Oskie my pal. I am seriously concerned abouts the apparent lack of sterilization in El Gato's surgical proceedings. What was your hooman thinking?! I hope something else doesn't fall of El Gato and he may become La Gata! I'm just sayin'…

    Big slurps, HoneyBuzz
