Behind The Paw, or Why I’m Not Cooperating!

This is an example of the mom person who shall remain nameless trying to take a picture of me.

She is going to the Proctor & Gamble Behind The Paw Summit in a little over a week.

She is going to an Iams & Eukanuba manufacturing plant, pet health & nutrition center & get to meet with Iams & Eukanuba brand teams.

She is going without me!  I’m not invited, she tells me, people only, she tells me.  You know there must be a magical room filled with all kinds of dog treats & goodies that I’m not going to get to see!

She also still has a broken ankle and still can’t take me for walks.  She’s not getting a good picture from me for a long time!

**Oskar’s mom person, Pam, here.  I am supposed to ask you if you have any pet food related questions that you would like me to ask when I go to the conference.  Just leave them in the comments & I’ll make sure to get them answered I can.  Are any other readers going?  I’m excited about meeting Jen from My Brown Newfies when I get there!

How could she? Is her cast too tight? Is it on her head? BOL

Just remind her that a LOT of those room full of treats need to make it home to YOU!!!

  7. Oh no Oskar!!! How could she leave you behind while she's taking YOUR trip of a lifetime!! You should really put together a list of stuff you want her to bring back for her…and when I say a list, I mean a long long list!!! hahahahaha!

  8. Hey Oskar!
Wow, you will be due some serious treats to make up for being left behind. You can get some serious mileage out of this. Please share pix with us!
    Grr and Woof,
    Sarge, COP

  9. Oh Osakr – I think you should take pity on your poor human and give her a little woozly smile! 🙂

    Slobbers,
    Honey the Great Dane

  10. That sounds like an exciting event, but they should certainly let doggies attend. However, since they're not, just tell mom that she might just get a nice shot of you if she brings you back plenty of swag from this event.

  11. but but but.. this is a paw summit… surely there's a room with lotta toys and nom noms where all pawparents can leave their furries to play. No fair no fair…

but i sure hope she remembers to bring you lotta noms when she comes back.

hope your momma's leg is better 🙂

  12. As we told the newfies, we definitely think the pups should get to go too – after all, the food IS for the pups, right? Or are the Moms going to be taste testers too? BOL.

Have a great time, Mom, and bring us back all the answers about the best foods out there and maybe some ways to get Phantom to eat.

Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara

  13. No questions, but I am very curious to know how the tours go and what you think of the plants.

    Your pal, Pip

  14. I would like to the experts to explain why some dog food has ingredients that are banned for human consumption.

I would like to know why "natural" doesn't always mean safe for dog consumption.

I would even like the experts to compare/contrast commercial dog food vs human grade dog food.

  15. Oskar's Mom,

I have a dog food question. Zeke used to eat IAMS. However, he started scratching excessively. I was told it could be because of wheat in the food and to try Blue. We did and the scratching stopped. Does IAMS have any plans to make a dog "sensitive" food? Have fun on your trip.

  16. Oskar, I'd be mad, too! Ask them if they're going to come out with any rabbit, cat or squirrel flavored food!

    Bunny

  17. I am not a real fan of P&G due to their use of animal testing in the facilities of some of the other brands under their umbrella. I find it hard to buy animal products from companies that support animal testing, but I do think that the chance to see their facilities would be an interesting learning experience if nothing else. I will be interested to see what you think of it.

  18. We are so excited to meet your Mom Oskar! Tell her not to worry about her foot, I will carry her if she needs me too:)

  19. hey Oskar,

Is your Mom playing a May Fools Day trick on you? Why would a human go to a dog food/dog treat convention? They don't eat that stuff, we do!!!

I need to think about this. You should be going. I am just so confused.

    Suka

p.s. To your mom: Wow! That sounds like a great trip! I had not heard of it, but have fun and hope you learn a lot!

  20. Haha. Poor Oskar. I'm sure your mum will bring lots of treats back for you. 🙂

Mum Pam : Could you ask if they changed the formulation since changing the packaging of the IAMs biscuits from paper to plastic?

  21. How credible can a DOG FOOD event be without DOGS!

I think Oskar would be a hit, so he should go.

    Love, Bella

  22. What a bummer drag Oskar!! And to think YOU are the reason SHE is gettin' to do all those super trips. Let's hope she has BIG pockets in her jacket and she smuggles you some great treats home!! 😉

Feel better by knowing there will be a lot of human "blah, blah, blah" and very little treat sampling.

In the meantime continue to not make eye contact with the flashy box! tail Wuggles, Rubie.

  23. That is so not fair but then I bet you get loads of treats and petting when your mum gets back so not all bad. Hugs GJ x

  24. Hope you have a great time and learn a lot. Poor Oskar – it's easy to see why his "nose is out of joint!"

  25. Wow Pam, how cool, good luck in the conference there! And thanks so much for your always support and positivism in blogland!
And Oskar is adorable in all poses there!

  26. how facinating. i would love to hear more about your tour. especially the condition of the animals used at the plant–are they organic, free range animals, humanly slaughtered, respected–or is that just so far off the radar with mass production. is the food just scrappings and waste off the floor?–blood, fur, feathers, hooves etc. from feeder farms? Is some of the meat they use road kill? I have heard horror stories that collars, tags, plastic wraps all go into the rendering plants. i think this is such a great opportunity to see what is inside a dog food plant. Don't proctor and gamble do harmful animal experimentation in their labs? it is horrible if you google it. Please ask lots of questions!!!!

  27. Aw Oskar, we're sure she loves you the best really. Just a bit of advice…act all hurt until she goes then expect a bumper load of treats when she gets back 'cause she have felt sooooo guilty…works every time! Dex & Lou x

  28. Oh, Oskar…your mom's actions have left me barkless. How could she go to all those dog food places and not take you?! It's just not right. Don't let her get a good picture of you for a looong time!

    Cairn cuddles, Oz

  29. OMD! Your Mom person is going to a dog food conference?? And not taking you?????? **thud**

She better bring a whole buncha treats back is all we got to say!!!

    (((Hugs)) your friends
    Oskar, Schatzi & Xena

  30. Oh Mr. Oskar, you don't get to see the place with all the nomable foodables? I hope your mom will at least take lots of photos so you can see what it looks like. I have a question for the foodables peoples. Is there something in certain noms that can make Dillon and me poink out in lumps all over? It might be just that we are seniors and that happens to older guys and girls, and some of mine are just plump lumps that the doctor said not to worry about, but Mom has been wondering about it lately.

    Thanks, Mr. Oskar!

    Barks & Wiggles

    Jackie

  31. Maybe she'll bring you something tasty back from the conference?!

Will that make you feel better?

    Licks and lots of slobber,
    Lexi and Jasper the Danes
