Coats of Many Colors

First of all let me assure you all that I am fine. My vet bill was just for my check-up, some booster shots, my flea & tick medicine, my heartworm medicine, some special food for my teeth & my license, although I’m told I still am not allowed to drive (unfair)!

Anyway, today’s schnauzer lessons are about schnauzer colors. The American Kennel Club only recognizes salt and pepper, black and silver and solid black, but the breeders have made many more colored schnauzers.

Just so you know parti colored means having a predominant color broken by patches of one or more other colors.

Of course my mom persons favorite color is solid black. Wasn’t I adorable?

  8. Hey Oskar – we're a pretty diverse bunch huh?! All those colours AND a choice of 3 sizes – those humans are just spoilt for choice!

We've been told we're 'pepper and salt' as opposed to 'salt and pepper' because of the ratio of black to white hair… sheesh, it's confusing! All we know is that we're just incredibly handsome! Um, who needs to know more than that?!! Hey, our humans NEARLY chose pure black too, but when they saw us they liked our eyebrows – he he he! – and so opted for the 's&p' (or 'p&s' – whatever we are!!)

Obviously, we think ALL schnauzers are great no matter what their colouring, but it's nice to know there are so many of us out there to cater for all tastes! Great post, thanks Oskar! Tail wags – JD and Max.

  9. Hi Oskar
You are adorable. We love your puppy photo.
    Thanks for the schnauzer lesson.
    Love Ruby & Penny

  10. What cute colors! Those silly AKC peeples don't know good things when they see them. Why don't they recognize all of the colors?? Waldo is "undesirable" according to the AKC, too. How silly of them.

    Wuv,
    Gus and Waldo
