My "Adventure"

Do your people ever get you all excited for a “big adventure” just to have it backfire on you?  Mine tried that trick yesterday.  First there was this.  We won a CSN gift code from Road Dog Tails and she chose this.

I thought, great, a basket to carry all of my toys somewhere.  WRONG!

My pitiful, save-me face did nothing for me.  Apparantly travelling on my people’s lap when we drive is not safe & I must have a car seat now.  I was not consulted.

I decided to take it as a positive thing that we were going somewhere fun, like the park or the pet store.  Guess who was wrong again?

The V-E-T!  Tricked, I was!  You can see that I was already panting with nervousness. These visits never end well!

You guys know what happens next.  The tiny room with the table!

Thankfully my mom person’s flashy box ran out of batteries at this point, so you don’t have to have flashbacks by watching them give me shots & draw my blood.  There was one tiny victory when the vet said that since I was so nervous, he wouldn’t take my temperature.  I will remember to be extra nervous in the future, to avoid the thermometer of humiliation.

I rode home in my carseat and didn’t fuss as much, but I was wiped out for the rest of the day.  I hope your Friday was better than mine!

  1. OH you poor soul! Well now you know not to fall for those tricks again. We didn't do anything special on Friday. It was a boring day.

  2. Oh, Oscar – we know how you feel – the harnesses come out along with our seatbelts and we think we are going to McDonalds or something and then we end up at the dreaded VET – he nice, but we don't like what he does to us.

  3. OH Oskar… I am SURE that was NOT what the Road Dawgs had in mind. I believe they were thinking… Stuffies and Tennis Balls and Snacks and Napping Beds. NOT the torture box… and CERTAINLY not the VET thingy. Sorry buddy. Next time… YOU do the ordering!!

  4. hey Oskar,

I think your mom is wrong, it looks like a pawsome toy basket to me. Perhaps if you fill it up with all of your toys then she will see that you were right all along!

What a horrible way to spend your Friday! Zipped up on a toy basket, and then taken to the VET. Not a good way to start the week-end! I feel for you, Oskar!

I think today's celebration for Richie and Ronnie will cheer you up and help you erase the memory of yesterday.

  5. Oh, Oscar, we hate the V-E-T, too! What's up with these hoomans?! They know we don't want to be there, but keep on bringing us there! They are cruel!

  6. WTD?!? They get you a really cool car seat and then take you to the V-E-T?!? That is so wrong!

I tell you, Oskar…I go in my crate in the car and I really like that. I know some dogs prefer to ride on their human's lap, but I don't. It takes too much energy riding on the lap. You will find having your own crate or seat will allow you to relax and then you will have plenty of energy when you get to your destination!

    No back seat drivin'…

  7. Hi Oskar!

Hawkeye here! Wow, do I feel for you buddy! Earlier this month I had to go get my shots and they messed with my butt too. Checked my ears, but they didn't put anything in them, thank heaven.

You'll like your carrier. Mine usually just stays in the car until it's time to GO! And most all the time it is at least for a ride, even if I don't get to get out. My crate is all fixed up with a comfy mattress. If we are going very far, I can curl up and sleep.

With the vet vist over, it can only mean good things in the plans for you!

    Y'all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

  8. Nice car seat Oskar and we hope the next ride you take in it will be to the park or the pet store…you deserve it. Hugs and nose kisses

  9. Hi Oskar. What a terrible ordeal! These humans can be sneaky at times – a pup thinks something nice is going to happen and then BAM! it's either the VET or the GROOMERS – *shudder!*

We hope you recover from this shameless torment soon Oskar – we feel your pain!

Schnauzer snuggles – JD and Max.

  10. Even we felines know that this was terrible woofie treatment! Oskar, can woofies yak? Cuz that's what we would do.

    Twice.

  11. I hope all went well for your check-up…and that's a good tip so as not to get temperature taken…hmmm, I think the FiveSibes just read that! You do look very cute in your car seat!

  12. Poor Oskar. We feel for you sweetie. You must be so grateful that the camera batteries ran out.

I get so scared at the vets, I just curl up and freeze…..and hold out for lots of liver treats.

My poor darling, it could have been nail clippers or something. At least it means that you'll be able to go out on true adventures in the future.

    XXXOOO XXXOOO Bella

  13. Oh Oscar, what a day! At least you were spared the thermometer, what's that all about, totally humiliating as you say! Here's to a better day tomorrow for you, you deserve extra treats to make up for all that! Dex & Louis x

  14. Hey Oskar, glad you came to visit me. You poor baby. We too hate I mean hate the vet. It really stresses us out. I like the way you fooled the doctor into not taking your temperature. We will have to remember that one.
    Happy Easter,

  15. poor baby! What an awful trick that was! Shame on your Momma! I hope she makes it up to you at Easter with lots and lots of nice treats! xoxo

  16. I cannot believe that your humans tricked you like that! For shame! For shame! At least they care about your health and that you are updated on your shots, right? That's one positive way to look at your humans mean, awful trick, right?

  17. Oh no! Blueberry had to do the same thing yesterday! She says she is very glad that it's over with. I hope you got a lot of sympathy after it was over!

    Bunny

  18. Oskar, I sure hope you are okay by now. Believe me, I've been tricked before like that….taken for a ride on the Parkway first and then to the VET!! Sneaky!! Wishing you a nice relaxing night! Lots of love, Holly (and mom)

  19. OMD Oskar what will those willey hoomans think of next?

Well you are right at least you got away without the butt thing!

    Have a
    Pawsomely
    Hoppy
    Easter!

    woo woos, Tessa

  20. We are so sowwy you was twicked into going to the
    V-E-T!!
At least you did't have that temperature thingy..we hates it when they put it where the sun don't shine!

You deserve a lot of purrs and head buts!

  21. Hi Oskar – that sounds like a bit of a stressy trip! Does your vet give you treats? Mine does and so I really like him! (plus all the nurses at reception! Hee! Hee!)

Anyway, glad to hear that you survived your ordeal! 🙂

    SLobbers,
    Honey the Great Dane

  22. Ooooh…"adventure" should only be reserved for things that are fun. I guess they couldn't TELL you they were taking you to the vet though. What is a human to do? Better luck on your next adventure.

  23. Oh no! My poor darling Oskar. Come, let me give you a kitty hug. MMMMWWWAAAHHHHH (((((HUGS))))). Yeah…I hate it when they take my temperature too. So humiliating. purrr….meow!

  24. We feel for you, Oskar. Our humans do the same to us too. We thought we were going to the park but soon we realised that that was not the way to the park!

  25. I know exactly how you were feeling! I've seen the doctor way too many times recently, and would be happy to not see him ever again!

    Hope you're feeling well!

    Woofs & hugs,

    ~Bailey
By the way… I LOVE your new car seat!

  26. I always manage to turn the visit to the v-e-t into a social event!

Sorry woo got stressed and stuff!

    Hugz&Khysses,
    Khyra

  27. Well that was certainly not a fun Friday! Bummer dude! Maybe you'll get to go somewhere fun in your new snazzy car seat this weekend 🙂

    Waggin at ya,
    Roo

  28. I get strapped in to the car too Oskar!! I don't like it much and they try to soften the blow with a sheepskin rug and two plush doggie pillows…. but I'd be happier with the freedom!!

Sorry bout the vets….I love going there because I got to do puppy skool there and did lots of fun stuff and ate treats too while I was little. I think this helps with not having any fear now. Plus they play with me…and talk to me and say I am as cute as a button!! THEN I get liver treats!! Cool!!!!!! Mum's holdin' a liver treat when the needle goes in…..so I'm so fixated on that that I don't notice! Double Cool! Wish I could make it better for ya mate! Tail Wuggles,Rubie.

  29. Hey Oskar!
Wow, that's just rude. I mean to build up your hopes then smash all your dreams like that! At least you avoided the butt stick … that's the worst ever. I feel your pain buddy.
    Grr and a Sympathetic Woof,
    Sarge, COP

  30. Wow you did get tricked!! They let me ride on my own seat so I'm happy and then I see that sign and I know it's going to be downhill from then on.

  31. Those pawrents are nuttin but tricksters! The V-E-T, what next. We do love our car seats, though. Look at it this way, you have a personal driver in your pretend limo
    Benny & Lily

  32. Oh Oskar – that doesn't sound like an adventure – it sounds like torture & humiliation!
Hope you made the humans feel guilty so you got some treats afterwards!
