First of all let me assure you all that I am fine. My vet bill was just for my check-up, some booster shots, my flea & tick medicine, my heartworm medicine, some special food for my teeth & my license, although I’m told I still am not allowed to drive (unfair)!
Anyway, today’s schnauzer lessons are about schnauzer colors. The American Kennel Club only recognizes salt and pepper, black and silver and solid black, but the breeders have made many more colored schnauzers.
Just so you know parti colored means having a predominant color broken by patches of one or more other colors.
Liver & Tan (Although it looks liver & white to me!)
Chocolate & Tan (Again looks like white to me)
Black & Salt
Black with White Chest (AKC allows this)
Black & Silver (Looks like salt & pepper to me)
Of course my mom persons favorite color is solid black. Wasn’t I adorable?
aaawwwwwwwwwww baby oskar!!!!
i had no idea there were so many types of your breed. i have to say, i like your coloring the best.
great lesson!
I did not know the Schnauzer palette was so diverse. Solid black's the way to go, though! ;o)
Awww Oskar…you were such a cute little guy! (like me, huh?)
I didn't know there was such a diversity of colors…But, of course I'd recognize one of us anywhere..no matter the color.
We're…UNIQUE!
Thanks for sharing the tid bit…
Paws Up!

Hey Oskar – we're a pretty diverse bunch huh?! All those colours AND a choice of 3 sizes – those humans are just spoilt for choice!
We've been told we're 'pepper and salt' as opposed to 'salt and pepper' because of the ratio of black to white hair… sheesh, it's confusing! All we know is that we're just incredibly handsome! Um, who needs to know more than that?!! Hey, our humans NEARLY chose pure black too, but when they saw us they liked our eyebrows – he he he! – and so opted for the 's&p' (or 'p&s' – whatever we are!!)
Obviously, we think ALL schnauzers are great no matter what their colouring, but it's nice to know there are so many of us out there to cater for all tastes! Great post, thanks Oskar! Tail wags – JD and Max.
Oskar – us again! We forgot to mention this – http://tankcolnar.blogspot.com/2009/05/sign-up.html
It's a 'whack a squirrel' campaign, we thought you might be interested!
Hi Oskar
You are adorable. We love your puppy photo.
Thanks for the schnauzer lesson.
Love Ruby & Penny
Hey Oskar, you were sooooo cute when you were little!
Puppy kisses

What cute colors! Those silly AKC peeples don't know good things when they see them. Why don't they recognize all of the colors?? Waldo is "undesirable" according to the AKC, too. How silly of them.
